$$, Pineapples and Spongebob

On the money front, I received some great news!  One of kiddo's therapy bills was overpaid so I have a credit!  Woohoo.  I'm hoping to catch up the other therapy bill and start the new year with a zero balance.

Now on to pineapples.  We love pineapple.  So much so that I was buying 3 to 4 cans a shopping trip.  I was paying about $3.50 for 4 cans.  Then, one day I decided to buy a whole pineapple for $2.  I cut it up and ended up with the equivalent of 6 or 7 cans.  The whole pineapple tastes sooo much better. Can't believe it took me this long to figure it out!

Speaking of pineapples...one of the kiddos bought a dvd today with their own money.  It was a Spongebob Christmas two pack at Walmart.  The 2 pack costs $14.94 and there was a sticker on the front for a free movie ticket up to an $8 value. You redeem a code online and print out your movie cash!  So easy and convenient.  Two dvds and a movie ticket for 15 bucks.  I thought that was a great value. 

I'm hoping by next post, my debt totals will reflect one less credit card! Although this year did not prove to be as productive as I would have liked, I  have to focus on the positives. Our debt did not defeat us but instead motivated us to make changes in our lives for the better.  A zero balance is no longer a dream but a very attainable goal :)

I certainly have not been as productive on debt as I like, but I keep paying for things so i must be okay or stupid? Fresh pineapple is so good but do not put it in jello it will not set. You have to use canned.

Thanks for the tip :) Debt can sometimes feel like its neverending but everytime we eliminate a credit card it gets us that much more closer to zero.

Life, Dad update and America 2021

So it has been 10 months since the pandemic changed how we live. It feels like much, much longer.  Kiddo1 and Kiddo2 are learning from home. It has been a challenge but they have adapted. Mr. Man has had to make changes at his job. His work is pretty stressful and the changes due to the pandemic have only added to his and his coworkers' stress levels. The Ups and Downs of 2020

2020 is definitely taking us on a rollercoaster of emotions. COVID19 had us all in a state of anxiety. Then the killing of George Floyd occurred. Watching the video was heartbreaking and incredibly hard to see. Unfortunately, this happens far too often in the United States. This has brought out both the best in people and the worst. Many say at least we know where everyone stands. The United States has a lot of work to do but I believe we are up to the task. We pray that as a nation we can come together and make change possible so that there is peace and equality for all.  So how has all this shaped our lives financially. We refinanced our home for a lower interest rate. It seems like life can change in a moment lately and we wanted to make sure we are saving wherever we can. Mr. Man sold his vehicle. Life changes due to the Corona Virus pandemic

So it has been quite a while since my last post. Between caring for Dad and my homelife there is not much room for much else. Friday was my last day of caretaking for the foreseeable future since Kiddo1 and Kiddo2 are not at home and starting school online due to the Corona virus pandemic. Dad is doing as well as can be expected. My siblings will continue caring for him. Adjusting to life in these times has not been easy. Store shelves are empty, friends and family are losing their jobs and the healthcare system here is beginning to show signs of strain. Everyone is tired, scared and full of anxiety. It is hard to be optimistic but everyone is trying. It is just scary times when you cannot find toilet tissue, milk, eggs or bread. Store lines are long and at times tempers may flare. People are trying to stay sane but with each day it gets a bit more difficult. We are all coping as best as can be expected. Aside from that I will take this time to help Kiddo2 with navigating school work.
