Christmas ....

It's been a hard few days. Mom is what made Christmas extra special. She made it wonderful and happy. Without her everything seems not so bright. I kept replaying her words in my head "Christmas is for the children. Always make it special for them." I mustered up every ounce of happiness and tried to keep our spirits up. It turned out okay. We ate and laughed and exchanged gifts. It was a full, full house. My Dad kept his chin up as well.

Mr. Man gave me the best present ever, Into the Pleasure Groove, the autobiography by John Taylor of Duran Duran! I'm a huge fan :) My Mom had bought Kiddo2's gift before she passed.  It was of course perfect.  She knew Kiddo2 so well.

Financially, we will struggle till Mr. Man gets paid. It's okay because I have no desire to shop or go anywhere. I will be listing the remainder of this month. New Year's will be spent at my Brother's place so minimal spending there. We've been eating/cooking a lot at my parent's house.  Everyone keeps bringing food and I'm trying hard not to let any go to waste. 

I am not sure how I feel about the New Year.  I guess its a bit bittersweet.  I just pray for strength and have been asking my Mom for patience when dealing with my oldest sister. Even in heaven we are still asking her for help.  Love you Mom :*)

Thank you Lena. Everyday is a blessing and I am thankful I spent as much time as I could with her. I just hate that one minute she was laughing and joking and the next time I saw her she was gone. It's so hard to understand but I know she is in a wonderful place.

Life, Dad update and America 2021

So it has been 10 months since the pandemic changed how we live. It feels like much, much longer.  Kiddo1 and Kiddo2 are learning from home. It has been a challenge but they have adapted. Mr. Man has had to make changes at his job. His work is pretty stressful and the changes due to the pandemic have only added to his and his coworkers' stress levels. As for myself, change has been difficult on many fronts.  Caring for Dad in this third year was the biggest challenge. It was 7 of us, my five brothers coming from different cities to care for him on a weekly basis, my sister (who had recently returned to teaching) and me. We managed as best we could and did it as safely as possible. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, Dad passed away. It had nothing to do with the virus and simply the effects of his stroke and dementia that slowly took him. Life changes due to the Corona Virus pandemic

So it has been quite a while since my last post. Between caring for Dad and my homelife there is not much room for much else. Friday was my last day of caretaking for the foreseeable future since Kiddo1 and Kiddo2 are not at home and starting school online due to the Corona virus pandemic. Dad is doing as well as can be expected. My siblings will continue caring for him. Adjusting to life in these times has not been easy. Store shelves are empty, friends and family are losing their jobs and the healthcare system here is beginning to show signs of strain. Everyone is tired, scared and full of anxiety. It is hard to be optimistic but everyone is trying. It is just scary times when you cannot find toilet tissue, milk, eggs or bread. Store lines are long and at times tempers may flare. People are trying to stay sane but with each day it gets a bit more difficult. We are all coping as best as can be expected. Starting Money Jar System next week!

So I spoke with Mr. Man about using the money jar system.  He is sort of on board.  He said he can stay within a budget for the week (which I know he can) but he prefers to use his debit card. All that will be in the account is his allotted money for the week so it should work out fine. Next week we will start and  I'm excited but also a bit nervous about ending up with 5 empty jars! This week I have been organizing so I have set aside a few things to sell on Ebay.  Whatever money I make will go towards 1 particular credit card and medical expenses.  I will be updating my debt totals next week which I'm actually looking forward to doing!
