Dentist..shopping...pizza


Happy Friday everyone!  I have been absolutely loving the weather around here...cold and rainy. Had a dentist visit this morning and I was dreading checkout...thankfully today's charge for a cleaning/filling was $35...YAY!  This afternoon, I am going to do some major food shopping. I was inspired after reading Life After Money's blog and a few others.  I decided to take inventory of what I have and plan/rearrange the menu for the next 7 days.  I'm hoping not to go back to the grocery store till next Friday. I want to see something in the jars at the end of the week! We'll see.  This afternoon, the kiddos and I will be grabbing some pizza and playing some games.  Kiddo 2 brought home a coupon and we'll that helped convince me because I hate paying full price at that place.  I told the Kiddos as long as they did well in school this week then that would be their reward.  They have been really great about not giving me a hard time about not eating out as much and finding something to snack on at home :)

Hi, Thank you for visiting my blog, I am dead chuffed. Looks like you have a good assortment of delicious food there, the kind of stuff that I would buy....except.....a curling iron is not on my needs list, I will put up with straight hair. It has been a while and oh how life has changed...

In the blink of an eye, here we are. It has been about 4 years since my last post and life has been a crazy wild ride. 2021 was truckin' along and I was starting to get use to my new normal. Kiddo 1 was preparing for their final semester of college. We took a family vacation to Washington D.C. in the summer of 2021. It was full of lots of sightseeing, museums and food! It was a great time. Then August came and Kiddo1's health changed. Very quickly and without a lot of warning came doctor visits, MRIs and ultimately a seizure that severely affected their ability to walk. Multiple Sclerosis was the diagnosis after getting a second opinion just to be absolutely certain. TONS of physical therapy later they are able to walk. Life is not the same. Injections three times a week and pills are now necessary and routine. Kiddo1 went back to complete their final semester of university and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Life, Dad update and America 2021

So it has been 10 months since the pandemic changed how we live. It feels like much, much longer.  Kiddo1 and Kiddo2 are learning from home. It has been a challenge but they have adapted. Mr. Man has had to make changes at his job. His work is pretty stressful and the changes due to the pandemic have only added to his and his coworkers' stress levels. As for myself, change has been difficult on many fronts.  Caring for Dad in this third year was the biggest challenge. It was 7 of us, my five brothers coming from different cities to care for him on a weekly basis, my sister (who had recently returned to teaching) and me. We managed as best we could and did it as safely as possible. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, Dad passed away. It had nothing to do with the virus and simply the effects of his stroke and dementia that slowly took him. He died peacefully at home.  So now, I'm having to readjust to living.  I am trying to stay busy with life and yet still feel t...

Trying to avoid backsliding into oblivion!

I have not written in a WHILE! I'm so glad school is almost out for summer. You would think I could remember all these expenses like yearbooks, class parties, teacher gifts and field trips. I finally laid it out in a language they could understand..."If we save money by NOT eating out and NOT buying random junk then a trip to DisneyWorld would be possible just about every year!" They were amazed! Now....they know we would not go to DisneyWorld every year but they actually were listening to what I was saying versus tuning me out. LOL! I plan on listing like a mad woman next week.  I need to make some moola in a serious way. Plus, my organizing has gone off track and I need to get it under control again. So much to do and I'm looking forward to it :) Have a great Weekend!
